The Academy Award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling went to Kazu Hiro, Viviane Baker and Anne Morgan for Bombshell. A fabulous movie with outstanding makeup, we think it was a totally deserving award .
Whilst everyone is talking about best dressed and the most stunning gowns of the night we take a look into the fresh , bold and daring makeup looks. We believe its the finishing touches which can make all the difference and take your look from beautiful to unforgettable! It was difficult to choose just four of our favourite looks as so many gorgeous faces walked the red carpet last night but here is who we would give an Oscar for the best makeup and hair styling walking the red carpet …..
Saroise Ronan
Makeup Artist Kara Yoshimoto Bua created this stunning look with a classic liner and wash of colour that suited Saroise’s eyes perfectly.
To recreate this look we would recommend Tarte’s clay paint eyeliner in black, use this with our favourite eyeliner brush from the London brush company for a effortless deep black liner. If your not comfortable with using a brush and a liquid liner try tom fords eye defining pen. Its like a felt tip pen and is full proof for a quick and easy liner with one side slightly smaller for a more detailed line you can’t go wrong with this product.
Hairstylist Adir Abergel created a modern day Audrey Hepburn with a short fridge and simple up do. Her hair was finished off by a Jewled Gucci Butterfly hair clip.
Scarlett Johansson
Scarlett’s Makeup artist Frankie Boyd added a twist to the traditional smokey eye by adding a touch of glitter which perfectly complimented her metallic Oscar de la Renta gown.
Its actually really easy to do yourself with the right tools. Use a pencil liner, we recommend the MAC cosmetics powersurge Kohl liner. Then blend in with a little smokey eyeshadow colour of your choice.
Huda Beauty smoke and smudge dual ended eyeshadow shaded brush is great for this.
The smudge side of the brush is perfect for getting close to the bottom lash line and really smudging out your eye pencils and shadows the smoke side of the brush is great for eyeshadow application, blending and softening . For a more blown out smokey eye try using the 217 mac cosmetics blending brush.
Try using urban decay heavy metal glitter eyeliner pressed on top of your smokey eyeshadow for hassle free pop of glitter.
Zazie Beetz
We love this look created by Hairstylist Lacy Redway and Makeup artist Tyron Machhausen.
Tyron created a soft smokey eye and and kept the rest of the makeup natural focusing on her her gorgeous glowing skin.
To get flawless skin like Zazie’s it’s all about the prep. A face mask will help with the prep of your flawless skin. We recommend using skin 111 rose gold brighting facial treatment mask , beloved by celebrities everywhere. This mask works both to illuminate and calm the skin for a party ready glow.
Lacy Redway constructed this effortless Updo. Focusing in Zazie’s natural curls Lacy only used one product! Nexxus Comb Thur Finishing Mist which kept the stars hair light and airy.
Lily Aldridge
Lisa Aldridge prove that red lip + red carpet is the beauty staple which stands the test of time. To recreate this statement bold lip there is one thing you must always do first and that’s prime your lips.
Using Sara Happ lip exfoliation is our favourite for pre red lip prep , not only does it remove any dry skin leaving lips silky smooth for perfect application they come in a variety of flavours , our favourite is the brown sugar.
Our go to lip balm is of course the award winning Elizabeth Arden 8 hour skin protectant cream. This leaves lips hydrated, plump and perfectly prepped for that red lip application.
For that bold red lip we swear by the Charlotte tilbury Hollywood lipsliquid lipstick in serene / ruby red. Once this lipstick is one it’s literally not going anywhere , the liquid formula lasts for hours without fading , smearing or feathering. So you don’t need to worry about touch ups throughout the day.
